Puget Sound UniServ Council

What is UniServ?

The NEA UniServ Program began in 1970. It is NEA’s single largest program that assists local association leaders and members by providing professional staff support in an effort to achieve local, state, and national goals. There are 21 UniServ Councils within WEA statewide.

The Puget Sound UniServ Council (PSUC) staff work closely with local associations to provide professional assistance in bargaining, contract maintenance, dispute resolutions, membership organizing, community organizing, leadership development, instructional and professional development, and political action.

PSUC is governed by elected leaders within the Council’s local associations. The majority of Council delegates are full-time school employees.

PSUC is comprised of fourteen local associations, including eight certificated units, five classified units, and one combined certificated and classified unit.  Local associations within the Council are:  Auburn Education Association; Dieringer Classified Public Employees Association; Dieringer Education Association; Enumclaw Education Association;  Federal Way Education Association; Kent Association of Paraeducators; Orting Education Association; Sumner Paraeducator Association; Sumner Education Association; Tukwila Education Association; Tukwila Classified Employees Association;  Vashon Educational Support Personnel; Vashon Education Association; and White River Education Association.

The Council employs three full-time UniServ directors and two associate staff members.

The UniServ program is funded in part by NEA, WEA, and UniServ dues.

If you need assistance or have questions, our office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. You can reach the PSUC office at 253-852-2002 or 1-800-734-5655.
